Throat Chakra - Speaking your truth
The throat chakra is blue in color and the stone is lapis lazuli.
The foods associated with the throat chakra are Black berries, blueberries, coconut, lemon, honey, fruit juices, sea plants.
The throat chakra is associated with speaking your truth. Speaking your heart without fear of judgement or repercussions.
When our throat chakra is blocked, we find it difficult to express how we truly feel to others. We keep quiet and hold our emotions inside. Whenever we do not speak our truth and keep it bottled up inside, we become physically ill as a result of carrying around all the words that we have not spoken. We grow more and more bitter as our truth consumes us. We will be filled with resentment because no one will understand what we truly desire since we haven't spoken our truth.
When our throat chakra is overactive, we share way too much. Besides telling people how they should behave, we are overly critical, we talk without listening and we gossip.
Being authentically you means standing in your truth and communicating your unique voice with integrity.
Women's opinions have been stifled for centuries. We've been told that women have no voice, that they're not intelligent or smart enough to make a difference. We've been shut out of literature, the arts, science, and technology. When women speak up, they're often considered bitches. They're considered brassy, too loud, and uncouth. These things have made women silent and collectively blocked our throat chakras.
Likewise, society does so. We are told what we should wear, how we should behave, what is right or wrong in society, and what is accepted. What the family structure should look like. Children are taught from an early age to be seen, but not heard. The loudest have the tendency to silence the quiet. When our opinions differ from the majority opinion, we are ostracized by society. From an early age, we learn conformity and that it is better to keep quiet and not express our opinions for fear of judgement and ridicule.
Symptoms of a blocked throat chakra include dental problems, thyroid disorders, gum disease, laringitis, anemia, and neck pain.
